The Department of Exercise and Sport Science at MMU is recognised as an international leader in the field of research and teaching. Having achieved a 6* rating in the 2001 RAE and an 'Excellent' grade from the QAA for its course quality, the department offers exceptional postgraduate study opportunities in a world class research environment. A taught postgraduate Masters course in Sport and Exercise Science is offered in both full and part-time study modes with pathways in Biomechanics, Physiology and Psychology. Sports injury focused, clinical courses at Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Masters level offer a flexible study alternative for suitably qualified health professionals. These programmes of study combine distance learning opportunities with weekend residential study. A programme of full and part-time research degrees is also available leading to MSc/MPhil/PhD award outcomes. Research opportunities spanning a range of areas relevant to sport, exercise, human performance and health are offered within the department.
