University of Hull
Grant is a Reader in sport and exercise physiology and head of department for Sport, Health and Exercise Science at the University of Hull. Originally from Queensland, Australia, he moved to the UK in 2000 to lecture in sport and exercise physiology at Cumbria University. Over the 20 years of his academic career, he has established an international research profile examining the performance and physiological responses to intermittent exercise, including methods of individualising player monitoring and match analysis, and elite football referees. His research with elite football referees has led to changes in referee fitness assessment protocols within FIFA. More recent research has focused on the use of consumer wearable technology for measuring physical activity. He was awarded BASES Fellowship in 2017 for his services to sport and exercise science.
