Sport and Exercise Psychology Accreditation Route update: New SEPAR documentation due for release August 2023

7th July 2023

Please can current and future SEPAR candidates, supervisors and reviewers be aware that there will be some upcoming changes to the SEPAR documentation, aimed at streamlining the submission and review process. SEPAR has now been running for three and a half years and following extensive learning during the early stages, BASES recently appointed an independent consultant (Dr Paula Watson) to review the current SEPAR processes and to produce some updated guidance for portfolio submission and reviews.

The changes will involve updates to the SEPAR handbooks and templates, plus a portfolio guidance video to support candidates in their submissions. The guidance is planned for release in August 2023 and will come into play with immediate effect for new SEPAR candidates (starting August 2023). For SEPAR candidates already part-way through their programmes, there will be a grace period through which they may still draw on existing guidance if they wish (up to November 2023 submissions), after which everyone will migrate to the new guidance (with effect from May 2024 submissions).

Further information will be circulated in August when the new documentation becomes available, along with details of drop-in support available for candidates, supervisors and reviewers who have any queries regarding the changes.
