Save the date: CASES Conference 2026

3rd April 2025

Members were informed last autumn that the Association is taking a strategic pause from its student and annual conference programme in 2025, to allow a reimagined combined conference to be held in June 2026.

Through the Conference Scientific Planning Group (SPG), plans started a couple of months ago to develop a national learning and networking experience in 2026 that will be the ‘go to’ event for academics, practitioners, students, and those working amongst the sport and exercise sector.

Manchester Metropolitan University will host the event, from Wednesday 3rd to Thursday 4th June 2026, as we pilot how the CASES combined conference will look in the future, with delegates from a range of career stages interacting, a return to a university base, a wide choice of city centre accommodation to suit all budgets, and a range of conference ticket options. The aim is to offer delegates an inclusive and innovative experience.

There will be spaces for satellite events pre-conference, for commercial/product events, for Special Interest Groups, and collaborative ventures with other societies, all with flexible options as regards format.

Initially, the thoughts were to hold the conference over three days, however the SPG recently agreed that running the conference over two days was the best option.

Commenting on this decision, Dr Adam Grainger FCASES, Chair of the Conference Scientific Planning Group said, “Despite the initial thought of a three-day conference, after further investigation of the facilities available at Manchester Metropolitan University, offering a two-day conference is feasible in 2026. This will provide a more efficient format and a more cost-effective option for delegates.

"Our message to the sector is that of a call to action to encourage those for which the future of sport and exercise science beckons to join us at Manchester Metropolitan University on 3 to 4 June 2026, for which a very warm welcome awaits.”

Further information about the speakers and sessions will be shared over the coming months.
