ICSESP launch the new International Clinical Exercise Physiology Professional Standards
1st October 2024
The International Confederation of Sport and Exercise Science Practice (ICSESP), for which BASES is a foundational member, has recently launched their International Clinical Exercise Physiology Professional Standards, which can be viewed here. BASES was one of three national Associations that helped to develop the standards. In time, a support guide will be available to help courses to be created for mapping to these standards.
Here in the UK, through the work of the Clinical Exercise Physiology UK (CEP-UK), we have Clinical Exercise Physiology standards aligned to the Academy for Healthcare Science.
Commenting on the recent launch, Dr Andy Scott FBASES, BASES’ Director on the ICSESP Board, said, “The primary aim of the ICSESP is the development of professional recognition of sport and exercise by guiding evidence-based industry-relevant frameworks. The first objective in this aim is to develop a series of international professional standards to lead the advancement of graduate sport and exercise science professions, with clinical exercise physiology first. The scoping project for postgraduate sport science has just begun and I will be leading the BSc sport and exercise science professional standards project further ahead in 18 months’ time.”
