BASES members support National Biomechanics Day
15th May 2018
BASES were proud to be sponsors of the 3rd Annual National Biomechanics Day - a world-wide celebration of biomechanics.
As partners of the event, BASES encouraged members to celebrate the day by running their own events. Every member that ran an event and sent in content were entered into a draw to win a year's free BASES membership; Congratulations to BASES member Dan Rothwell from Loughborough University.
Dr Sandy Willmott - BASES NBD ambassador states, “The National Biomechanics Day initiative saw a number of events around the UK in April that engaged the next generation of scientists with biomechanics-themed activities. In a very promising expansion from the two UK venues that participated last year, sports science and/or engineering departments from at least nine institutions have contributed this year: Loughborough, Bournemouth, Exeter, Bath, Bedfordshire, Nottingham, Southampton, Northumbria and Lincoln.
Globally, organisers are hoping to exceed the 7,600 students who attended events in 2017. Participation information is still being collated, and more details of the UK's involvement will be available in due course."
